Steve earned a Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia, an M.Sc. from Simon Fraser University and a B.Sc. from the University of Western Ontario. He is a Registered Professional Biologist in BC.

Vanessa is a professional biologist with more than 25 years of experience. Her main areas of expertise are in small mammal ecology (including aquatic and terrestrial shrews, voles, mice, and bats), developing best management guidelines, and recovery planning and critical habitat identification for species-at-risk. Vanessa is on the Pacific Water Shrew Recovery Team and is Past President of the College of Applied Biology. The College of Applied Biology is the legislated body which governs the practice of applied biology in BC.
Vanessa earned a Ph.D. from the Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia (UBC), an M.Sc. from the Centre for Applied Conservation Biology at UBC, and a B.Sc. (Honours) in Biology from Simon Fraser University. She is a Registered Professional Biologist with the College of Applied Biology.
